Story
I am 94 years of age, a committed Christian and a lifelong member of the Church Mission Society (CMS). I served as a missionary for 10 years in West Africa and a further 8 years on their home staff. I am currently a member of St. James' Church in Emsworth. Hants.
I now wish to raise £1000 for the work of CMS. Why? Because I am convinced of the continuing need to support the Christian Mission in the UK and world wide.
I have seen for myself in recent years the effectiveness of CMS in training Pioneer Mission Partners in the UK and CMS work abroad. e.g. local Mission Partner Rachel Karanja who heads up Greenspan Biotechnologies where they convert waste materials into energy saving stoves and solar lamps. Read about it in - https://churchmissionsociety.org/our-stories/waste-not-want-not/
But there is much else. CMS works in 50 countries world wide.
So, please sponsor me: I plan to walk from my home in Nile St to St. James’ Church, and back (1/2 mile) 94 times in the ensuing weeks to celebrate may age and to raise money for CMS. Each journey is validated by a numbered slip deposited in the Rectory letterbox.
PS. I don’t expect a knighthood !
