Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In January 2016 John Gorham was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. After two operations, general spectrum chemotherapy, combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy and two separate courses of radiotherapy (all at Southampton Hospital) he is currently on a targeted chemotherapy course of treatment on a trial at Royal Marsden Hospital.
This form of cancer is particularly aggressive and requires greater funding to research better early dectection rates and appropriate targeted treatments.
Too often dectection of the cancer is too late to prevent its spread to other parts of the body. Early detection will enable a treatment programme to be developed that addresses the particular needs of each diagnosed person.
On 22 April 2018 three Gorhams, John's wife Chrissy and his two children Helen and Richard are running in Southampton. Chrissy will be running her 72nd marathon and Helen and Richard will be running in the same event's 10k. All will be cheered on by John who frustratingly cannot run at the moment.
Please consider supporting Chrissy, Helen and Richard by donating to this worthwhile cause and help to prevent and manage this cancer to improve its current low survival rates.
