Fundraising for Brain Tumour Research
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer… yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. As a brain tumour research group, we know the importance of charity funding in allowing research into better treatments to take place.
As a team, we are each taking part in the 26 challenge to raise as much money as we can! The team includes...
Nel: I am the principle investigator leading the laboratory based research at Imperial's Centre of Excellence. My challenge is to run with my dogs non-stop for 26 mins!
Nabil: I am a senior researcher in the lab, and will be running (many) laps of my small garden to try to hit 10km!
Aithne: I am a PhD student researching novel treatments for melanoma brain metastasis. My challenge is to complete 26 different exercises, 26 reps of each, in 26 minutes!
Lillie: I am the groups Neuro-oncology Clinical Research Practitioner, and my challenge is to run 5km in 26 minutes!
Rich: I am a research associate investigating the potential of metabolic inhibitors in treating GBM. My challenge will be to do 26 different exercises, back to back, in 26 minutes!
Liisi: I am a research associate looking for vulnerabilities in the brain tumour genome. My challenge is to do 26 jump squats back to back!
Ella: I am a PhD student investigating the effects of ketogenic diet on GBM. My challenge is to do a fast walk of 2.6 miles in 26 minutes!
Febi: I'm a BSc student looking at arginine depletion therapy as a treatment for glioblastoma, and I am going to run 5K in under 26 minutes!
Jake: I'm a BSc student looking at the effect of arginine deprivation therapy on the immune system. I am going to try and paint as much of my garden fence as I can in 26 minutes!
