Story

C2C - Completed! Thanks to everyone who's wished us well and donated over the year!

Not going to lie, it was painful at time and i'd wished i'd done a lot more training, but well worth it!

On September 2021 I will be cycling the coast to coast from Whitehaven to Sunderland, covering roughly 135 miles across a three day period. Victoria (my sister) will be joining me during this challenge and has also pledged to raise money to help the cause. As fitness is something that exists rather than something I possess this will be a massively physical challenge for me.

Day One … Whitehaven to Greystoke/Penrith/Langwathby – approx. distance 50 miles

    • one big climb at Whinlatter rest of route reasonably undulating

Day Two … Greystoke/Penrith/Langwathby to Allenheads/Stanhope – approx. distance 40 miles

  • climbs up Hartside, out of Garrigill and Black Hill. A tough day over very hilly terrain

Day Three … Allenheads/Stanhope to Sunderland – approx. distance 45 miles

  • climb out of Allenheads and then Rookhope Incline (or Crawleyside if going via Stanhope) then its level or downhill all the way to the finish

--- May Update ---
May has been a mixed month, with restrictions easying and pubs reopening, training has slowed, only one 20mile + ride done so far this month. However i'll be finishing the month off in style at the weekend with a 30+ mile ride with some of the people who'll be doing the C2C with me.

--- April Update ---
First 20 mile plus ride on Good Friday. Progress! A total of 26 miles in just under 3 hours, felt good afterwards but completely lacked the energy to do any more! Need to find a more energy sustaining food than just a breakfast bar before heading out!

Quite a few rides so far this month, nothing major but hoping to get another long ride in as the weather gets better!

--- March Update ---
Bike is currently out of action! after just one training session I noticed issues with the bike and took it for a health check. Other than the frame the rest of the bike need some TLC. new front and rear sprockets, new break pads / discs, cable change outs, the full works! hoping to get the bike back Sunday 7th but missing important training time!

Got the bike back, unfortunately its had to go back in for additional repairs. another week gone without any training and the wife keeps making cakes which I cannot resist!

--- February Update ---

First time out on the bike this year... last 2 miles was a real struggle and I only did 15 miles! at this rate it may take me a month to finish. trying to improve general fitness while not killing myself. the pain is worth it considering what people with Neuroblastoma are going through!

I'm raising money for the Neuroblastoma Research Fund because I want to help the young children diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a rare type of cancer that mostly affects children under the age of five. Fewer than 100 children in the UK are diagnosed each year with neuroblastoma. There is no known cause. Please help me to raise money for neuroblastoma research, so that more young lives can be saved.
