Story
- Firstly there is a solid base with the Etape Caledonia on May 11th with an 81 mile trip round some beautiful Scottish highlands.
- Then there is the real meat with the Etape du Tour in July which this year goes over the iconic mountain climb of Col du Tourmalet at 2115m, down the other side and then onto the further climb to the finish at Hautacam at a mere 1500m. This is the same route that the professional riders will take a few days later when they ride it as stage 18 of the Tour de France; so to say the least it will be quite a test.
- And last and longest, like the sesame seed bun to top things off, in August comes the Prudential Ride London-Surrey which is 100 miles starting at the Olympic park out on the Olympic road race route up and down those Surrey hills and finishing back on the Mall.
To do any one of these rides at the age of 50 is a challenge, but to do all three is to be honest a bit daft. The one thing that makes it slightly more sensible is being able to raise sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support would provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. So if you would like to, please donate here.
