Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We made it! The Kilimanjaro Climbers successfully reached the summit at dawn on 2nd February 2012. It was a tough day - climbing 4100ft in the morning and then down 9100ft to base camp in the afternoon - but very exciting and amazing at the top! Thank you for your support - we have raised over £14,000 for four charities so far! If you would like to continue donating (which we would be most grateful for), below is the reason I'm supporting the Sick Children's Trust.
The Sick Children's Trust is a charity which believes that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefits a child's recovery and whose mission, therefore, is to provide high quality 'home from home' accommodation for families whose children are receiving hospital treatment for serious illness. They really helped Ali and I when our daughter Kitty became critically ill over the millenium. The importance of the support that the Sick Children's Trust provides is increasing as local children's units close and children have to travel long distances to get the specialist treatment they need.
The latest fundraising campaign the Trust is undertaking is for a new 'home from home' at the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge, hand-in-hand with a new unit being built at the Hospital equipped to care for the sickest and most vulnerable babies from all over the East of England. It would be great if we could provide at least some support to that campaign. If you can help with a donation, I would be truly grateful and I know the Trust will use your donation to very good effect.
