Dave:

We all know that dogs are pretty amazing creatures, talented, often funny, sometimes serious but overall gifted with their own individuality. Now, just imagine that you are totally blind and need the support and expertise of one of these precious animals to lead you across the mouth of Oxford Street. Perhaps you might need to use the underground to get to work or travel across the Pennines to see your Gran. Now imagine that you are achieving all of this with the support of a brilliant four-legged mobility operative.

Over the last 40+ years, I’ve been lucky enough to be partnered with these incredible creatures. The sense of weaving through the underground or walking along the street without fear is just mind-blowing, and all because this four-legged, fur-covered fabulousness is right by your side, keeping you safe and on track. I’ve had this privilege for over half my life and am passionate that other people in a similar boat to me receive the same care, love and attention that I’ve received by one of the finest charities active on the planet today.

For other people to enjoy the same love, attention and support I’ve
received, please give generously to the Bonzo name-a-puppy appeal. Not only would you be giving a few of your coppers to a brilliant charity, you would be allowing another vision impaired person or child to take their first steps in the world with a friendship that only grows from strength to strength and really does change a life. I know, because mine was.

Thank you for your faultless ongoing support and I know that, between us all, we can pull together to allow someone else to have a slice of the good stuff with Wendy, Hevan, Melthorne or, best of all, Bonzo.

Having spent time with Dave, it has become so clear to me what an amazing blessing his dog, Chad is to him. Having written our song "Together We Shine" to raise awareness for Guide Dogs UK, we both thought it would be wonderful if we could help someone else receive the same love and support that Chad gives to Dave. Working with the existing Guide Dogs UK "Name A Puppy" scheme, which gives support to puppies in their Guide Dog training, we are hoping to raise enough money to train a guide dog, and name it "Bonzo" which is a  name very close to my heart.
