Story
Always up for a challenge.
John Brimelow, Liverpool fan and former scout leader aka OLD BLOKE FROM EUROPE, will be climbing the 19,341ft (5,895m) of Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2011 to raise money for Save the Children.
Every child and young person has rights, no matter who they are or where they live. Nearly every government in the world has promised to protect, respect and fulfil these rights, yet they are still violated worldwide.
The world’s first declaration on children’s rights was written by Save the Children's founder in 1923, and covers:
- personal rights, such as the right to a name and a nationality and freedom of thought
- access to services, such as clean water and food, education and state support for a child’s family
- protection from exploitation, violence, neglect and abuse
Save the Children works across the globe to make sure that all children enjoy these rights, rights that you and me take for granted.
