Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
I have been a member of St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) since April 2009 and I know the commitment and dedication its members exercise in helping the poor and people in need. I have also seen at first hand the benefits our work brings to those we help and I hope that my efforts in raising funds will assist more people being helped.
Although, I have not cycled seriously since I passed my driving test some 40 years ago, the challenge of riding over 300 miles from London to Paris in 4 days in September to raise funds for the SVP appeals to me, especially as 27 September is the anniversary of the Society’s patron saint (St Vincent de Paul) who died in Paris in 1660.
I have been training on my own on the roads of Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire and I have seen some beautiful scenery in those counties which I have not seen before. In addition to building up my fitness and stamina I am now an “expert” in changing inner tubes and repairing punctures.
Although the ride will stretch me physically it is something that I want to do as the work of the SVP brings great benefit to those we help. I am grateful to you for spending a few minutes looking at this site and if you do decide to make a donation it will make a difference as well as giving me your support and encouragement to continue the training and complete the ride.
