I have always wanted to run the marathon as it is an achievement for myself and a once in a lifetime opportunity, however like most I applied and never really thought much of being able to actually get in. By chance, the first time that I have applied, I got in! I would love to use not only my space to complete a goal that I never thought I would, but also to raise funds and awareness for the disease that has affected those so close to me and still does to this day. 
 

My Grandad was a huge part of my life and I have fond memories of him, however he unfortunately was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia when I was in my 20's. Watching someone who I had grown with, who had taught me so much and made such lovely memories with me deteriorate into someone who couldn't recall those memories I fondly look back on to this day was heartbreaking. 
 

History repeats itself and once again, my wife's Nana who means the absolute world to her and made her into the woman she is today again has been diagnosed with this dreadful and incurable disease. I am reliving the pain of what already has happened with my Grandad and yet witnessing also the heartbreak and upset that is brought to my wife and her family also. 
 

I would love to raise funds towards this charity so that they can continue the vital research into Alzheimer's and dementia and continue to search for ways in how to make not only the lives of those that are diagnosed with it but also those that are affected around them that bit easier. 
 

With your support and donations we can look towards a future within our lifetime where Alzheimer's and dementia can be monitored and prevented. I have already been collecting donations via my TCS London Marathon Page and Facebook page as well so every little pound towards curing this awful disease truly does matter!
