Story
Joe and I will be cycling our furthest distance ever (100+ miles) on the 12th of June and then repeating it on the 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th - 100+ miles each day for 5 days in a row. Why? Because of the brilliant cause Thinking of Oscar, a charity founded by my friend and colleague David and his wife Hannah.
Thinking of Oscar is dedicated to the memory of Oscar Cole, who unexpectedly passed away in June 2014, aged only 16 months.
The mission of the charity is to improve the experiences of children and their families in hospital care by investing in projects and innovation within child health which have the potential to benefit children throughout the country. Read more about Oscar's story here .
The idea for TOO500 was born out of the realisation that child health lacks both funding and focus on a global scale. Accordingly, the purpose of #too500 is not only to raise much needed funds in order to invest in innovative projects, but also to raise awareness of the need for improved focus and funding within child health and the benefits that this will then provide not only on the child and their families but for the hospitals and society as a whole.
