Nearly 11 years ago, Joe’s mum was taken by cancer and, in her final days, she received care and love at the James Paget Hospital Palliative Care Unit. 

Following Linda’s untimely passing, Joe and his cousin, Dave (simultaneously a good and bad influence!) cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats and raised around £2,000 for Palliative Care East in memory of Linda. In the following years, Linda’s parents, June and Les, raised an incredible £14,297.00 for Palliative Care East, essentially selling bric-a-brac from the boots of cars and from their garage at their home in Cromer. 

When it came to the 10-year anniversary of Linda’s death, Joe wanted desperately to do something to honour his mother’s memory. Mandy offered to cycle London to Paris in 24 hours in an offer she might come to regret. Unfortunately, Mandy never met Linda but she feels like she would’ve loved her because of what she’s heard about her and because of how amazing Linda’s son, Joe, is; only a truly wonderful woman could raise such a kind-hearted and thoughtful gentleman. Mandy feels sad not to have met Linda,  although she feels as though she knows her a little.

Unfortunately, Mandy’s fitness is not at the same level as Joe’s so the offer of cycling from London to Paris - which was accepted - had to be within a realistic timescale. So, we will be making our attempt just shy of 11 years following that awful day. We would be so grateful if you could dig deep to sponsor us so we can help families and individuals who find themselves in that awful set of circumstances Linda and her family found themselves in.
