Story
On Friday 15th July myself and a team of ladies will embark on an awesome 23 mile coastal journey from Dartmouth to Salcombe by moonlight to help raise money for two very worthwhile local charities.
Living in a rural area, like Salcombe, Devon two charities close to the hearts of many locals are Devon Air Ambulance Trust and The Salcombe First Responders. These two charities do amazing work and if we are lucky enough not to have needed their services in the past, we may need their services in the future.
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust raises funds to keep 2 emergency Air Ambulances flying. This is no small feat as each and every year they have to raise in the region of £4 million to keep both the helicopters airborne,
The Salcombe First Responders is a voluntary team of people who, respond to emergency 999 calls. Their aim is to attend life threatening situations to administor first aid and bridge the gap between the initial call and the arrival of the nearest ambulance. The First Responders attend 50% of these calls within 8 minutes of the 999 call. Their life saving equipment is entirely funded by local fundraising.
Both Charities I hope you agree are worthy causes. To keep up-to-date with our progress, please visit www.moonlightwalk.webs.com.
