Story
Since my 2020 marathon was cancelled last year, i decided to carry on with my fundraising page to have a two-way cause for a personal cause and one from last year. Training is underway!
1) Jeremy Wisten, once part of Manchester City Academy, tragically took his life toward the end of last year on October 24th. I aim to raise awareness in his spirit of the need for more sufficient care many released youth players must receive from clubs in the form of mental well-being counselling or support, further educational paths in or outside of football and regular check ups. This one is for him which will come almost a year after his passing. GBNF.
2) Following from my previously chosen charity in 2019 in preparation for the cancelled marathon, The Homeless World Cup Foundation has the main focus to inspire homeless people and change their lives through the power of football; 1.2 million have already been changed. There are more than 70 street football partners around the world working on the ground inviting people, for example in a hostel to have a kick-about. 80% of the players - after events - have changed forever - come off drugs, got houses, got jobs or go to college. It's very impactful and has men and women competitions. With the great awareness made by Marcus Rashford from my hometown of Wythenshawe, it will be a privilege to run with them and their ever significant changes.
