Story
On 13th December 2017, my mum was due to go back to India for the first time since she left, aged 10. My dad woke to find her unresponsive and didn't know what was wrong. She was rushed to Watford general and then moved to Queen's Square, where she was diagnosed with a very rare form of bacterial meningitis. We were told that the prognosis wasn't good. Whilst there, in a coma and on life support, she underwent many tests and the specialists were uncertain whether she would survive.
On Christmas day, with thanks to her incredible consultant and the amazing team at Queen's Square she came out of her coma and this is where her long recovery began.
Meningitis can and does have a devastating long term effect on people. My mum, fortunately has come through the other side and lives a full and healthy life. Even though she still has to and probably always will have to deal with many challenges that have had a long term affect on her life, she never ceases to impress us with what she achieves.
Having lived through and understanding what Meningitis can do to someone and their entire family, pushed me to want to raise money for the amazing charity, Meningitis Now. This is why I am attempting to run the marathon for this fantastic charity and why I'm asking you to support me as best you can.
Thank you so much.
