At the heart of this year's Festival in Armagh is the recording of the first ever professional recording of the Charles Wood Singers, with repertoire from Charles Wood, Amy Beach, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Charles Villiers Stanford.

Story

Woods compositions play a central role in the CD, along with Charles Villiers Stanford who preceded Wood as Professor of Music at Cambridge University. We are excited to include the first-time recording of The Canticle of the Sun by the American visionary, Amy Beach; and Woods neglected African-Caribbean contemporary, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, will also be given a voice on the CD. The full track list for the recording is as follows: Stanford: Magnificat a 8 Stanford: Eternal Father Wood: Expectans expectavi Wood: It were my soul's desire Wood: O thou the central orb reconstructed by Philip Moore (Premiere Recording) Wood: Nunc Dimittis Beach: Canticle of the Sun (Premiere Recording) Bonum est confiteri (Psalm 92) Deus misereatur (Psalm 67)
