Story

The picture above on the left, is me 30 years ago in my last competitive run, as you can see I haven't changed much :-)

I am excited to announce that I will be running the TCL London Marathon on Sunday the 23rd of April on behalf of Children's Cancer and Leukaemia group.

You never think it will happen to you and your family, but around 1,635 children in the UK (below the age of 16) are diagnosed with Cancer every year. CCLG do an incredible job in not only supporting the children and their families, but also help to provide treatment and care, whilst funding the ongoing research to give affected children longer lives.

The money I raise will go towards helping CCLG with the above.

Anything that I raise for CCLG will then be matched by St. James's Place (the company I work for) to go towards their foundation that supports many more charities.

This means that I will be raising a minimum of £4,000 for charity.

My Story

I lost my dad (Jes) to Cancer when he was just 47, and this was an incredibly difficult time for me and my two younger brothers. Losing our uncle (Doug) a few years later again to Cancer - at the same age of 47 - was devastating. We were left thinking "why us?"

It's bad enough when adults are diagnosed, but I also have a friend who's son has had Cancer and I cannot imagine how that must feel.

With 1 in 2 of us are likely to get Cancer in our lives - and many more of us touched by this effect - little contributions like this marathon really add up to make a difference.

My little boy is 2 now, and hopefully he will grow up to be proud of me for this one day, we hope that CCLG never have to help us, but you never know what can happen and I'm grateful they are giving me the opportunity to support them.

This will be the hardest thing my body has ever had to deal with,  so before securing this  place and creating a page I wanted to make sure my body was up to it.

With around 5 weeks to go I'm where I want to be, at the 16 mile stage and my goal without a specific time is to run without stopping, of that I would be very proud.

Any little donation would be incredible!

Thankyou :-)
