Story
As much as I enjoy exercise, running is really tough. The training is tough, I've already been dealing with blisters, plantar fasciitis, calf pain, runners knee, the list goes on. I did a marathon last year with my Coach Gareth Knighton and he was raising money for Alzheimers research.
When the tough times come and you need to dig deep to carry on then having the knowledge that all the people who sponsored you are behind you, cheering you on, and the charity is counting on you, its a great motivator and a real source of inspiration to carry on going. I'm definitely gonna need that if I'm gonna make it through this marathon. The last one I did was flat, if not mostly descent!
This route is pretty brutal, so what better way to build that foundation of motivation than by raising money for a fantastic charity. These guys are only small, so it's nice to help them out. They give respite holidays to families with cancer patients.
I lost my Dad to cancer in 2007 and some of the best memories I have with him are the holidays we got to go on as a family. Giving other families the opportunity to make memories like that is something I'm really proud to be a part of.
