Sarah and I are running the Great North Run to Support the fantastic work of Pace4life and the Hearts of Ghana. 

This year Pace4life has come alive, with people from all over the country donating pacemakers and pacing kit so that we can send it to the Developing world. In addition we recondition pacemakers with battery life that have had previous use with a thriving national collection system.  There are over a million people across Africa who desperately need a pacemaker mostly for complete heart block but cannot afford the prices that can often be double the cost of a pacemaker in the UK. We are just scratching the surface of this problem at the moment but hope to grow fast with your help to address this need. 

This year we have sent pacemakers to Kumasi and Accra in Ghana, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria and to Venezuela and Cuba. We have sent people on missions to Ghana and Nigeria and we want to send more volunteers to support our young programmes in the developing world. 

We are going out to Accra, Ghana this September and are planning further in-person missions to Ghana and Nigeria. 

Each pacemaker sent literally saves a life and so any support you can give for this fast growing charity is much appreciated. At the moment all the kit is in my barn but with your help we will get it out to those in most need ! 

The pacing charity has also grown out of our Hearts of Ghana heart surgery missions which we have been running since 2019 and are now the perfect complement as we provide missions for heart surgery, angiography, and now pacing regularly through the generosity and hard work from our staff at south tees and also north tees hospitals
