Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for The Openwork Foundation.
The staff and financial advisers of Openwork (my Company) started this foundation for fundraising and grant-giving for children with special needs. The trust is registered through Zurich Community Trust (UK) Ltd, and we build adventure playgrounds for disabled children, purchase medical and mobility equipment, and provide services and care for children’s hospices. We also work in partnership with two UK national children’s charities: Weston Spirit and the Association of Children’s Hospices.
So... Here's my pitch: About 40 of us are cycling through Egypt for pledges to benefit the foundation. I would really like your help with a donation. We will be riding 408 kilometers (that's 253 miles for my American friends), in 5 days of riding from Cairo, through Edfu, to Awan, to Esna and on to Luxor, from October 28 through the 5th. We have each committed to raise at least 2250 GBP, and I have set a goal of 5000 GBP. I've already donated 1260 GBP (again, that's about $2400 at today's exchange rate) to cover the full cost of my trip so all donations go directly to the foundation.
I may be gym fit, but I have only just bought a bike. So, I must be MAD! But, it's for a great cause - so DIG DEEP! Pleeeaaase.
You can send me a check made payable to The Openwork Foundation, or make it simple and donate through this site. It's fast and totally secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Remember, the money will go to kids with special needs and many are in hospice care.
Many thanks for your support, and make it a great day! Joe
