Story
On Saturday 20th June, we are aiming to complete the Lyke Wake Walk for Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind.
The Lyke Wake Walk is a 40-mile (64km) complete crossing of the highest and widest part of the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire, England.
We are taking part in this walk, not only for our own self challenge but also for Scarbrough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind.
¼ of people living in Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale will experience some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. This year has been a particularly challenging one, for everyone.
Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind are an independent charity on the Yorkshire Coast who help people with a wide range of mental health problems as well as providing mental health awareness sessions to schools, local charities and local businesses. SWR Mind provide support via one to one support services, training and learning workshops, support groups, a telephone helpline as well as giving assistance with finance, debt housing and volunteer opportunities.
We will each be donating £50 to this worthy cause as well as setting out on our complete crossing of the North York Moors to hopefully raise awareness that It’s OK Not To Be OK.
