Story
On Thursday October 13th, my daughter Tina and I are going
to support Diabetes UK in the best way we know how – by jumping out the sky
from approximately 14,000 feet in the air of the Kent countryside.
This will be our first sky dive together but it’s personal.
Ever since Tina was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes ten years ago aged eleven,
I’ve been well aware of how important it is to take the condition seriously.
It’s changed the way we live our lives, but it doesn’t have to change what you
want to do with your life, and I’ve been proud of how Tina has not let it get
in her way. Diabetes UK is committed to helping the 4m+ people in the UK
with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and the many more at risk of Type 2 diabetes,
with emotional and practical support, campaigning to make their lives easier,
advice on what to eat and ways to deal with diabetes, and working hard on
research to find a cure for Type 1. Just so that you know, the thing which
scares Tina more than anything else – including spiders – is heights so this is
no small task for her. All the help you can give is much appreciated and will
make jumping out a plan in Kent on a chilly Saturday in October well worth it!
Thank you for your donations. They really do mean a lot to
us!
