Story
Joe Haffey from Newry, Co. Down was a proud family man, he was married to Anne for 40 years. Together they have three children and two grandchildren. Joe worked as a joiner all of his life taking great pride in his workmanship and he was also a real lover of horses. Joe was diagnosed with a grade IV glioblastoma in November 2019, he underwent surgery to reduce the tumour, as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the months following his diagnosis. After a long but brave battle Joe sadly passed away on 14th May 2021 at home and with his family. On the occasion of his anniversary his wife Anne has chosen to remember Joe by walking 120 kilometres on the Camino de Santiago from 17th to 21st May 2022 to raise funds for Brain Waves Northern Ireland.
Anne would like to raise as much money as possible for Brain Waves which is a vital funder of brain tumour research in Queens University Belfast. This important research is fundamental in the search for a cure and better outcomes for people who are diagnosed with brain tumours. Brain Waves provides important social and emotional support to people diagnosed with brain tumours and their families.
We would appreciate your support in this fundraising event.
