Story

I take immense pride in participating in the London 2024 Marathon to support the charity Young Lives vs Cancer. This charity empowers children, young people, and their families to confront any of the challenges cancer throws at them.

Like many, I have known and loved people around me who have unfortunately been affected by this disease. My uncle Paul passed away from this horrible disease when I was only young and it affected my family and I immensely. More recently, a childhood friend of mine unfortunately passed after his second battle with cancer. No one should have to endure such a daunting encounter, let alone twice!

Children and young people facing cancer deserve the same opportunities as anyone else, but when a child is diagnosed with cancer it threatens everything, for them and their family. Young Lives vs Cancer strives to provide support for these families, whether through financial assistance or by facilitating free accommodation near the hospital where their child is receiving treatment. And if they think families are not being heard, they are not afraid to raise their voices or shout on the behalf of these families if they feel their needs are not adequately met by the system.

So, I am running this London Marathon in memory of all those I know who have been affected by or unfortunately lost to cancer and for all those that are still fighting this relentless disease. Please feel free to come and cheer me on in London on the 21st April 2024 and any donation is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in supporting the fight against cancer!
