Story
On the 25th October 2018, my world came crashing down around me as I was informed that my son, Corey Edward Freestone, was born asleep. The next few days in hospital were some of the toughest days of my life. However, we were able to have our baby boy in the room for our whole stay, letting us cuddle him, talk to him and spend valuable time with him that we will always cherish.
The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (Sands), provided us with a beautiful memory box, filled with all sorts of keepsakes and support options that will help keep us connected to our little Corey forever, wherever. I couldn't imagine not having what Sands have provided us with. So, with that in mind, I will be taking part in the 2019 #Challenge15 to raise as much money as I can for Sands. £150 can provide hospitals with 7 memory boxes for bereaving couples, though I would like to and believe that I can raise a lot more money than that!
On March 23, 2019, I will be running/walking (way too unfit to run it all!) 15 miles around Bedford to raise as much money as I can for Sands. 15 babies die before, during or shortly after birth every day in the UK. This number is way too high and it breaks my heart that other people continue to have to go through what myself and my loved ones have been through. I want to raise as much money as possible to help ensure that the people going through this horrible period of their lives are also able to access the support and cherished memories that I have received.
Please, join me on my journey as I become a #challenge15champion. I ask you all to kindly donate whatever you can, be it big or small, everything counts.
Thank you all so much in advance, I will update you all throughout my journey :)
Joe
