Story
In these unprecedented times the country finds itself in, NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work right now caring for COVID-19 patients.This event is my small way of showing my respect and gratitude as they work tirelessly in the face of the virus.
My name is Joe Duckworth. I'm a Airport Firefighter at BAe Systems, Warton. We have been ensuring that vital supplies and personnel have been getting where they are required during the crisis so we are classed as key workers due to the support we give ensuring the flights can take place.
When I'm not at work I compete in long course triathlons. During the pandemic, along with many of my friends, we have been adapting our training to the great indoors to protect the NHS and save lives.
So from the 1st May my 10 in 10 Indoor Deca Triathlon begins, 10 Ironman triathlons in 10 days indoors. This will be by no means an easy challenge both mentally and physically, but its not even comparable to the efforts our fantastic NHS personnel are putting in daily. My challenge will be over in 10 days, theirs will be going on for many months.
Please donate and show them all again what a great country and community we really do have xx
The challenge will be a daily event comprising of;
60 minute row (approximate time of the Ironman swim)
112 mile indoor bike
26.2 mile treadmill run
I will be using the Zwift platform, so if you want to join me on the rides or the runs you will need to friend Joe Duckworth (Limitless) on Zwift. All rides will start at 8.15am daily and you will need to ready to start at this time, then you can either join me for part of or the full duration. The runs are slightly different.
Follow my Facebook page for daily updates and for full instructions on how to join me on Zwift
