Story
At the end of last year, my Grandma sadly passed away after a long and brave battle with Lung Cancer. A mother, grandmother, great grandmother, but most of all a friend to us and many others, she was the glue who held together our family and her passing has left a big hole.
This year I’m running the London marathon in memory of her, and to raise awareness of a disease that leaves a hole in the lives of 35,000 families each year. It is the 3rd most common cancer in the UK, the biggest contributor of cancer deaths, and more people will be diagnosed this year than will run in the London marathon.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation funds essential research, looking for ways to detect the disease as early as possible. They also support everyone affected by lung cancer from diagnosis, through treatment, living with the disease and end of life care; I am joining them in raising awareness and challenging the misconceptions of lung cancer.
I have an ambitious fundraising target and any donations, big or small, can have a huge impact on the lives of people like my Grandma, so please give whatever you can.
Thank you.
