Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Thames Path Challenge which is a 100km (62.5 mile) race from Putney to Henley on Saturday 14th September. I'm running the Challenge with my good friends, Bob and Mark to raise money for Bowel and Cancer Research.
The reason I'm running for this charity is most of us have been affected by Cancer in someway and It's a great cause to raise money for.
We have elected to enter the runners category which means we should aim to finish in under 15hours rather than 24hours that is allowed for walking. The challenge starts at 6am from Putney so the plan is to make it to the Catherine Wheel in Henley before last orders - all welcome to buy us a pint!
The three of us aren't short of motivation and have been training hard to try and finish the race within our goal of 15hours - we will be fueled by your genorosity!
To put things in perspecitve 100km is 62.5miles, which is the equivalent of two and a half marathons. Here are some other comparison that are both interesting and down right scary;
It is the same distance as running from Reading J11 of the M4 to J18 for Bath
It is the same distance as running from Cork to Limerick in Ireland
We will burn around 10,000 calories - That's 43 Kit-Kats (possibly the only enticing factor)
In order to finish in under 15hours we need to average 4mph, we must also carry all of our kit in rucksacks.
Please spare anything you can to help us reach our fundraising goals!
Many thanks
