Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. As some of you
may know, I’m currently in training for the London Marathon due to take place on the 2nd of October. I’m running to raise much-needed funds for Great Ormond Street, a hospital close to my heart as they have played a huge part in my family’s life.

My eldest daughter, Summer, was diagnosed with an extremely rare tumour at 3 months old and had to undergo life-saving surgery at Glenfield Hospital, with Great Ormond Street providing post-operation care. Summer was one of only three known cases in medical history at the time to have such a rare tumour.

Summer is 11 now and the care she has received to date has been incredible. There are not enough words in the English dictionary to describe the gratitude my family and I owe to Great Ormond Street. During some of the most invasive procedures you could imagine, the dedicated team at the hospital does its absolute best to make it as stress-free as possible for the children.

Summer would not be here with us now without the support of Great Ormond Street. Raising funds through this marathon is one way for my family and I to give something back to the hospital.

I know times are tough, but I have seen first-hand the difference that Great Ormond Street makes to the lives of sick young children and their families. I’m aiming to raise £4,000, so any contribution you could make will be gratefully received!
