Story
We are raising funds to support a scholarship that celebrates the life of Jody Gallagher:
Jody was such a happy, caring and loving Son and Brother, throughout his short life.
Just before high school age Jody got, for his Christmas, his first computer, this became his passion, he worked out how to draw computer characters, teaching himself, he learned to add skins and textures, by the time he went to high school he was completely hooked, and knew his career would be in computer arts, he helped his three brothers and taught them different aspects of the computer world, and with his genuine love of the arts, Jody became master of the profession he worked in.
Having studied at Abertay University, and loved every minute of it, he learned many more skills to add to his growing data base of knowledge. Jody was even asked to do some tuition at Dundee and Angus College, a job which he thoroughly enjoyed, as did the young students he taught, whom he asked to call him Jody, and no Mr Gallagher for him. Often when I visited Jody, I would see this crowd of young people waving their hands and shouting “Jody”, I learned they were some of his students, they would talk with him, and you could see the admiration from student to tutor, and tutor to student, he was such a lovely, gentle warm human being.
Sadly Jody’s, loving and caring younger brother Robert, Technical director of Brentford Football Club, passed away on the 12th November 2018, this became a nightmare from which Jody never recovered, as he went deeper into depression, and passed away on 12th March 2019.
Jody loved his job, and cared for all the people he studied with and worked alongside, and I would like to take this opportunity, for Jody, and to help other students, with the passion for Computer Arts, who may struggle financially, and help them to realise their dream, by gaining a Scholarship in Jody’s name.
