Story
Last summer was a very hard time for me. My Dad got the smallest of cuts on his finger, but sadly, that cut quickly turned in the beginnings of Sepsis and the beginnings of him fighting to save his life.
I am very close to my Dad and watching him in intensive care was extremely difficult for me. The doctors weren't sure at first if he would make it but then I told them about his fell-walking and fitness, then they seemed more optimistic. Dad is a fighter and he got stronger. His heart, lungs and liver began to function normally again and he finally left the ICU. When I spoke with the doctors, they said that his passion for walking the peaks helped save his life.
So I'm going to follow in my Dad's footsteps this summer to celebrate his strength by walking England's 3 highest mountains - Skiddaw, Helvellyn, and Scafell Pike. Also, I'll be promoting awareness of Sepsis and the importance of acting fast, knowing the signs and getting help ASAP.
I'm planning to do this quest in 24 hours with friends, but I'm not ruling out finishing it with time to spare, as it's always good to aim high!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story :)
