Event: St Catherine's Hospice (Crawley) - Midnight Walk, on 14 July 2012
In memory of Tim Hurst
We provide vital care to patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Story

At the beginning of 2011, we had a happy healthy family - or so we all thought. But there was an aggressive cancer eating away inside Tim's (my uncle) bowel. I remember seeing him mid-feb looking perfectly normal in my eyes. He went for tests after getting alot of pain in his stomach which then revealed the cancer, but the doctors were sure this was treatable and that he would live. He started treatment but was still in alot of pain. He was then taken to St. Catherines Hospice to manage the pain - not to never be able to leave. At this point we were all feeling quite positive that he was going to get better and were all looking forward to him being able to go home. But this was about to change. On the 26th April 2011 I was told the dreadful news that Tim's cancer was terminal, but followed by a positive that he had years to live. The years quickly changed to months and then sadly days. We had to watch a funny, healthy, well groomed man turn into someone we didnt recognise. Tim then died on the 18th May 2011.

I am doing this walk to raise money for the fantastic hospice that made his last weeks the best they could be, they spent alot of time with him making him lots of tea and just chatting which we are all very greatful to them for. So please sponser me! :)
