Story
I'm an experienced arm-chair jockey but a novice rider. I started learning to ride in December 2016 at the age of 44, fuelled by the barmy notion of riding in a PTP. That is my goal and this charity race is part of the journey.
Inspired by the horses and jockeys who make this game great and in memory of my racing friends and colleagues Tom O'Ryan & Ray Gilpin who we lost to Cancer in recent years, I ask that you lend your support and give as generously to this cause as do the people of Macmillan in their own work every day. In return I'll give it all I have and hopefully provide some fun along the way. My riding moniker is Jock Wan and together we'll be blogging on RacingUK.com as well as regular updates on Facebook and Twitter (@alexsteedman).
For the record and to borrow a line from Conor McGregor, I'm not coming to take part, I'm coming to take over. I want to win.
