Story
Joan Tweedie joined the British Red Cross in 1963, remained active within the Mildenhall (Suffolk) Branch until 2005 and was a life member. She wished donations to be made to the local branch by her friends and family in the event of her death. Joan died on 26 February 2016, aged 80.
Joan's voluntary work spanned local organisation, first aid training and duty and, in 1972, welcoming and aiding the refugee Asian-minority Ugandans to the UK after their persecution and expulsion by Idi Amin.
She was proud of the Red Cross's history, global humanitarian mission, community work and, very importantly for her, she was pleased to have made so many and varied friends through her voluntary work.
