Story
Hello, my name is Joan Willet.
Thanks for visiting my page. I turn 104 on the 19th of July and I have very happily lived at Old Hastings House residential care home for 22 years. I go out for several walks a day but having been inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore I now want these walks to benefit others. This will involve daily walking a steep hill approximately covering 0.3 Miles (0.5km). I propose to do this until my 104th Birthday thereby covering 17.3 Miles (27.8Km)!
I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support. The British Heart Foundation has had a profound effect on my life, mainly twenty-two years ago when I had exploratory heart surgery where I was given a life expectancy of one to two years and Twenty-two years later I'm still here. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps
I hope to raise at least £500 towards a fantastic cause so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thank you :)
