We offer respite & palliative care to children, young people & their families

Story

Hello, I am Ralph White, 75 and I live on Walney Island, in Cumbria. I have just been discharged from hospital after my second major surgery for cancer. The first being 10 years ago.
As a result I am now a member of the 2 bag club - having both a urostomy and colostomy.
My thoughts go to children and young people and their families who have to deal with life shortening illness and it humbles me to see how they deal with it.
Our family have supported Derian House Children’s Hospice for years, which although based in Chorley serves the south lakes area.
I would like to quote some of their words;
“Our ethos is to make  sure every child and young person who comes to Derian is able to make the very most of the time they have. We do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We never close to those who need us.”
To mark 10 years of living with cancer I will walk at least 2 miles a day for 10 days. This may seem an easy challenge but under my circumstances I can assure you it is not.
Please help me raise £1,000, because every little means a lot to the children they care for.
Thank you, Ralph
