Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please support this society to help fight this horrendous disease that progressively takes over the body inside and out.

We miss my dad, his humour,  his wisdom and his love.

Lewy body disease, (DLB) is the second most frequent cause of age-related neurodegenerative dementia. In the UK approximately 100,000 are thought to suffer from this little known but not uncommon and devastating disease.   DLB shares mental symptoms, such as confusion and loss of memory, with Alzheimer's disease and motor symptoms, such as gait and slow movement, with Parkinson's disease. For that reason it is often misdiagnosed. Accurate diagnosis is essential for successful treatment of the disease: people with DLB are characteristically highly sensitive to certain drugs which can worsen unpleasant symptoms or even be fatal.

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.
