Story
September is World Alzheimer's Month aimed at raising awareness, educating, encouraging support of and demystifying dementia.
Dementia is a subject close to the hearts of our Home Instead team as many of the clients that we provide specialist home support and care to, are living with dementia.
We wanted to support World Alzheimer's Day on the 21st September and as we hear that a cold water swim is a great way to help stave off dementia we thought 'A Dip for Dementia' was just the ticket. So some of our Home Instead team have joined forces with local sea swimming group The Chilly Buns to take the plunge and mark this all important awareness day.
We're be donning our swimsuits and immersing ourselves into the sea at 1.30pm at Holland-on-Sea, just in front of The Flags Cafe, where the lovely owner, has kindly agreed to offer us a post swim beverage to warm back up the cockles of our hearts. Come down and cheer us on, we'd love to see as many people there as possible.
As well as raising awareness about Alzheimer's and the various forms of dementia we'd also love to raise some much needed funds for The Home Instead Charities. Their mission it is to end loneliness for ageing adults and they provide grants to local groups to enable them to hold activities to help reduce the risk of dementia, loneliness and isolation.
So if you are reading this page please show your support for World Alzheimer's Day and for those living with dementia by helping us raise some much needed funds for local groups providing dementia support and activities, by making a donation to our Just Giving page. We'd be so, so grateful!
Remember: "Every 3 Seconds, Someone in the World Develops Dementia." At any time that could be you or me.
Thank you from the Home Instead, Clacton, Frinton and Walton Team and The Chilly Buns.
