Marathon update!
It’s been a while since I updated this page and given that so many of you donated so generously to our fundraising, I thought I’d better fill you in on current plans (just in case you suspect I’m living it up in the Bahamas with your cash, I’m not, I promise!).
After a rocky year with the arrival of *you know what* that scuppered many folks marathon training plans, and after 5 months off training after suspected Covid, I deferred my marathon place to April 2022, not knowing how easily running would return for me. Turns out, I shouldn’t have worried, my training is tip top and I’ve come back to it feeling great (and with a new appreciation for it at that). However, April’s London Marathon has now been deferred to October 2022 so for me, that is the goal. In the meantime, I’ll be running Brighton Marathon (for *fun*) in April and by October next year, I’ll have been training for London for nearly 3 years (no pressure to perform well here then!).
For those of you that know us personally, you’ll know it’s been a challenging year for Kelly who is still waiting for her kidney transplant and that charities like kidneycare really do provide amazing support for people in her position, they have been working tirelessly throughout the lockdowns to look after everyone affected by kidney disease and keep them safe.
Well done to Bianca who completed the virtual London Marathon last year, and who I’m positive will cruise around making it look easy on Sunday.
For now, that’s where we are, everyone that contributed to our fund, please be rest assured that your £ is in the safe hands of Kidneycare already and that this time next year I’ll be full of carbs and getting ready for the challenge.
