Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 · 8 September 2019 ·

To raise vital funds for The Royal British Legion through fundraising in the Simplyheath Great North Run 2019.

Story

We are challenging ourselves again with another half marathon in the fantastic city of Newcastle. We chose to support The Royal British Legion for all the amazing work they do to help provide lifelong support for the Armed Forces community - serving men and women, veterans, and their families.

Please give as much or little as you can to this great cause, every penny will help to make a difference. Thank you.

Your fundraising helps to fund vital services for the Armed Forces community, such as The Battle Back Centre - the first port of call for wounded, injured and sick service men and women.- £20 pays for small maintenance repairs for a vulnerable veteran struggling to live independently- £50 provides materials for two participants in an Art Recovery Programme which improves confidence and motivation.- £250 allows a child who feels isolated to interact with others struggling with aspects of military family life, on a UK adventure break- £500 helps provide training for an Admiral nurse who supports and re-assures families caring for a relative with dementia- £1800 buys an adaptive basketball wheelchair at our recovery centre and enables veterans to enjoy competitive sport and a sense of self worth
