The Great Glen Canoe Trail is an epic 60 mile (95km) coast to coast journey crossing Scotland in 5 days, tackling the formidable open waters of Loch Lochy and Loch Ness, with sections of the Caledonian Canal in between. 

I am taking part in this canoe trail to help raise funds for Odyssey. Odyssey is a charity that supports cancer patients in the U.K. 

I am travelling alone to join 6 other participants who I am yet to meet. As well as the canoe challenge, I will be camping each night along the way. Definitely no luxurious overnight accommodation! 

I was given support several years ago by Odyssey, after my second cancer diagnosis. The charity was the brain child of a Kent Oncologist. What happens on their courses is a secret. However I can say  it prepares participants realise we do not know what tomorrow will bring with  elements  of surprise and takes them outside of their comfort zones whilst allowing time out to  be in touch with nature . 

If I’m lucky I might even get to see Nessie, The Loch Ness Monster.
