Story
Stroke is sudden and devastating and changes lives in an instant. My Nan Sal (Nanny Sweeties to her great grand children) was an active, cruise loving, bingo playing shopoholic who was always out and about socialising with friends and family until the day she had a stroke.
It is said that when stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough.
Nan never walked again after her stroke and she needed 24 hour specialist care in a nursing home. Life as she knew it was gone.
However, Nan had over 5 years in the home where she adapted well under the circumstances, was known for her sense of humour and straight forward talking and was lucky enough to have visitors most days. Here she met and entertained her 3 great grand children, who affectionately nicknamed her Nanny Sweeties as they knew when they visited she had a sweet draw especially for them.
Nan will always be in our thoughts, memories and hearts ❤.
Running the London Marathon 2021 is a huge personal challenge for me - balancing work and family life with my childrens social lives including rugby, gymnastics, theatre group and swimming is a weekly challenge as well as organising lots of social functions, buses and raffles for my local running group! Now I am adding long distance training and fundraising into the mix. Luckily from a young age I have been taught to mutli task by my Nan and others 😍.
The work the Stroke Association does is vast. They provide practical support, help bring people together and fund pioneering research.
Please donate to my fundraising page to allow the Stroke Association to continue to take action to improve stroke treatment and care. Their research is essential to finding new treatments and improving existing therapies and care.
The Stroke Association say 'Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives'.
Please give generously 🤞👍🙌
