Santa Run 2021

J&J Santa Run · 26 October 2021
Almost 28 years ago our dad lost his fight with cancer and whilst treatments and early diagnosis have made a huge difference over the years a cancer diagnosis is still devastating and too many lives are still lost to this terrible disease.
Our dad went into Dove House on December 13th 1993 for some respite care and so we understand what it's like to have a loved one spend Christmas in Dove House and how heartbreaking it is to take presents in knowing full well that they aren't going to be used. The staff at Dove House were amazing and so caring and that has continued over the years, especially over the last two years of the uncertain times we have lived through
Also, my childhood friend lost her brave battle with cancer just after Christmas almost 11 years ago at only 42.
My friend loved Christmas as did our dad so with that in mind my sister Julie and myself have signed up to take part in the Santa Run 2021.
On Sunday 12th December we will be out walking the streets of East Hull dressed as Santa where we will also have a basket of treats to hand out to create some Christmas cheer. We will also have special delivery letters from Santa himself to give out (that's if your name is on his list 🤔) Keep a lookout for us especially in East Park
Thank you for taking the time to read our story 💕
Dove House Hospice has been caring for people in Hull East Yorkshire for almost 40 years. Patients and families are at the heart of everything we do, whether we are caring for people at the end of their lives, providing therapies to help people with life limiting illnesses improve their quality of life, or giving much needed bereavement support to grieving families.Last year our amazing runners raised over £12,000 to support our patients over the festive period and beyond, so this year we are once again asking you to don your Santa suits in support of your local hospice. Every penny has a huge impact on our patients, for example; £25 could pay for a patient to enjoy a lovely homecooked Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.£110 - could pay for a patient to enjoy a music therapy session - listening to their favourite Christmas songs, singing Christmas carols and playing instruments.£375 - could cover the cost of a patient's care for a day over the festive period.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
