As some of you will know I underwent major spinal surgery due to scoliosis in July 2011. Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person’s spine has a sideways twist or curve. In some, the degree of curve is stable, while in others it increases over time. The cause of most scoliosis is unknown. At the time of my surgery my spine had a 60° curve and following surgery this was reduced to around 20°.
I was extremely fortunate that things turned out so well and have never looked back since that day. To say it’s completely changed my life is an understatement and I wouldn’t be where I am now without the support of my wonderful family and friends.
In order to thank the amazing surgeon, Lee Breakwell (yes, that’s his real name!) together with his amazing staff, and help other people suffering from spinal injuries and conditions, I have decided that I have one half marathon left in me. So, together with two of my running buddies, I will be competing in the North Lincolnshire half marathon.
Please support us in whatever way you can, every little helps.
