Story
On the 26th February 2018 when I was 35 weeks pregnant with our twins, we heard the words no parents should ever have to hear “I’m sorry there’s no heart beat” . Our dreams were shattered and our world was turned upside down.
That day Alyssa was born sleeping followed shortly by her healthy baby brother Spencer.
Myself, Jamie and the twins were taken to a family room in the Princess Royal Maternity which allowed us to spend a few precious days with both our babies together and allowed for family to come and meet them and support us. The midwives who have received special training made us a memory box and placed a lock of Alyssa’s hair in it and gave us a teddy and her a teddy which we were then able to swap when the time came to part ways. They also took the time to get our girls precious hand and feet prints that will be cherished forever.
None of this would have been possible without SiMBA and the people who support them financially.
Over the years we have done many fund raising events for SiMBA raising over £12,000 for them and this would not have been possible without the help of friends, family and friends of friends who have dug deep and gave to us.
Due to various lockdowns and now the cost of living crisis and lack of funding SiMBA are very quickly running out of money and soon they won’t be able to continue supporting families the way they supported us.
Nothing they do will bring a child back to grieving parents but this certainly goes along way to give them comfort and memories that last a lifetime.
This April we are doing the Kiltwalk in memory of Alyssa, Aiden and Angel and all the other wee babies that were taken away too soon. We know it’s a huge ask when people’s finances are already at breaking point but please if you can dig deep and sponsor us so we can try and help save SiMBA and hopefully they can continue to support families like ours.
SiMBA responds to the needs of those affected by the loss of a baby. We help families create precious memories with their baby and offer beautiful ways to honour and remember them, now and always. We do this by providing precious Memory Boxes, refurbishing Family Rooms, installing Trees of Tranquillity, and coming together at special remembrance events. Please visit our website at simbacharity.org.uk for information on our services and how your support makes a difference.
