Story
On my 29th birthday, I was given the best birthday present ever as my eldest son, Harry was born.
24 hours later, Harry was rushed to Alder Hey Hospital where he was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries. We were told it was one of the more complicated heart conditions and once fixed it would be fixed for life but the operation was very complicated and Harry picked up an infection while in Intensive Care and we didn't know what the outcome would be. At a time when our lives had turned upside down, Ronald McDonald House Liverpool gave us a lifeline; they gave us somewhere to stay, a clean room with a bathroom and a place to call home whilst we battled through the worst weeks of our lives.
I had to say good night to Harry when he was 7 weeks old and I had always wanted to do something to repay the kindness Mac House gave us. I was originally offered a place by Ronald McDonald House for Harry’s 18th at the 2020 marathon, but we all know what happened in 2020, so instead I ran the virtual marathon in 31 loops around my block. . I only ever wanted to run one marathon and it to raise as much money as I possibly can for RMCH as a thank you for helping at a time when it was needed the most.
My original target was £2,000 but you lovely lot made sure I well and truly smashed that and together we raised over £3,000 for the virtual marathon so this is my victory lap so no more donations needed.
I'm not sure I’m up to all the training again but I’m sure I’ll find a few dogs to help me along the way - and this time it will be because you have already supported me so it’s to say thank you to everyone who made a donation and helped me along the way - THANK YOU!
