Fundraising

My name is Joanne Dwyer – I am a St John Volunteer who have been accepted to volunteer in northern India in October/ November 2015

I am a member of a group of St John Cymru Wales volunteers and am about to embark on a gruelling, yet rewarding training venture to northern India. During the event myself, along with a group of other St John volunteers will be taking part in training staff and orphans based in the Tibetan Children’s Villages in and around Dharamsala. This will involve the members participating in an extensive schedule of first aid training and, what makes it even more remarkable, is the fact there is no funding provided for this event.

Therefore Myself and the other members of the group are undertaking fundraising to cover the cost of the £1000 per head cost of the venture. If their fundraising activities achieve more than the required cost, the additional money will be used to purchase essential schooling equipment such as first aid equipment, pens, pencils, paper etc. for the children in the schools. These are items that are taken for granted as everyday items in our schools but are in very short supply in the arear that the group is visiting.

Therefore if you are able to assist in my way with this venture, you can be assured that it will be greatly appreciated. I know that I will be keen to provide presentations and to update supporters on the work done during the event, when I return to the UK
