Story
In June 2021 my son Matt took his own life. Matt is/was a wonderful son and person. He was kind, loving, sensitive and funny. Unfortunately, those wonderful traits weren’t enough to overcome the demons Matt fought with his mental health. I want Matt’s death to mean something and to make a difference. The headlight project have been pivotal in supporting me to navigate a world without Matt in it. Their support has been amazing and has all been free so I’m running the Great North Run and London Marathon to raise funds to give back and support the project. If my fundraising can help just one person and make a difference to their life then Matt’s death will have some meaning. Every donation will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated . Thank you With love Jo xxx
The Russ Devereux Headlight Project was founded in memory of Russell Devereux by his wife Catherine. Russ tragically died by suicide on 6 May 2018 age 41 leaving behind three young children. The aim of the project is to work with children, delivering emotional resilience programmes in schools. The Project also offers play therapy for children and one to one counselling for both children and adults and has a particular focus on helping families bereaved by suicide.
