Service Dogs UK is a assistance dog charity for veterans suffering with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We train and provide PTSD assistance dogs to support members of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services (including Coast Guard and RNLI)

Story

We are unique in our approach as we partner rescue dogs (who have often had very tough lives) with the veterans who train them (under supervision) over a nine-month period. We do this through an incredible network of volunteers (there's 20 of us) who give up Wednesdays and Saturdays to work with our professional trainers. Working positively with dogs has a profound effect on veterans wellbeing, all of whom have PTSD as a result of their line of duty. Many of these veterans have already tried every type of counselling and therapy available. But, they often find that working with a dog is the most effective way to help them through their trauma.
