Story
Joanna was the light of my life. We spent some wonderful years together.
Joanna was fun loving ,caring and compassionate and had a real jest for life.
In our heydays we had some magic moments together. We met playing badminton and when our bodies were more supple enjoyed skiing, cycling and even white water rafting.
Jo was always a star performer at work. Always able to draw and command a crowed at shows. She became a mini TV personality and even now still appears with the 'Window Wizard' !
She was so proud to be a police officer and discharged that role with professionalism, empathy and understanding. She drew enormous respect from all who worked with her and many of the victims she supported in her SOIT role and even some of the people she arrested !!!
The last 4 years have been a turbulent time. During my illness in early 2011, Jo was at my side and cared for me.She was the best nurse ever !
Not long after my own recovery from cancer Jo was diagnosed with a brain tumor.Jo put up a tremendous fight against this aggressive disease and the equally debilitating treatments to control it.
Since Jo's diagnosis she has used her remission to do all the things she held dear. We have seen Barcelona,Rome, Niagara, Boston, New York, Krakow, France and the Lake District, plus some wonderful events laid on by the MPS and even enjoyed tea at a Buckingham Palace Tea Party
Unfortunately the cancer came back and on Saturday the 3rd of January she peacefully passed away. It can cause her no more distress,
I have received so many heart-warming messages and know that Jo has been loved and respected by family and friends everywhere. Her laughter was infectious and I know of no one with a bigger, all-encompassing heart.
In the past we attended a couple of barn dances in aid of the Helen Rollason Charity, a smaller and less well known cancer support charity. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at those evenings and were pleased that the proceeds of the dance were going to such a worthwhile cause.
Jo loved flowers but for those who would prefer to kindly donate in her memory, this would be the charity of our choice.
Thank you all for your kind words of support and love.
